“We travelled to Clarens to be with family and due to connecting flights we weren’t sure of arrival time. Lisa (local contact in Clarens) was so flexible to meet us on arrival and super smiley. Beds were very comfy and water ran hot whenever needed. Tea, coffee, sugar, cooking oils were all on hand for us together with long life milk for our arrival Perfect location and greeting. Clarens is really such a beautiful place and the views all around the cottage were breathtaking. Would love to visit River Cottage again.”

Despite arriving later than expected due to unforeseen circumstances, Lisa was in constant communication with us, ensuring we had all the information we needed to get there smoothly. When we finally arrived, we were delighted to find the house exactly as shown in the pictures. It was impeccably clean and well-prepared for winter. The host had generously provided wood and a lighter, making it easy for us to enjoy a cozy fire. The house was warm and inviting, with heaters switched on in all the bedrooms. We loved having access to Netflix and other streaming services, which made our evenings relaxing and enjoyable. The kitchen was well-stocked with essentials like sugar, coffee, tea, olive oil, and even milk-such a thoughtful touch that not all hosts provide…”

Security was good and within a gated property. The cottage had two bedrooms that could easily accommodate four adults. "Such a stunning place! I Love being close to town to walk into town. River Cottage is located right by the trails which is a bonus to go for walks into the mountain. Both Jacqui and Anja the owner were fantastic hosts. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. The views from the garden onto the mountain is magnificent and the garden is any child's paradise to play in especially our son. We will definitely be back!"
