The open-plan living area is decorated with a South African take on a modern Hamptons feel: panelled and open with exposed roof trusses and a wood-burning fireplace that will fill the cottage with warmth and character even in the depths of Winter. Stepping out onto the north-facing stoep, you have a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree view of the gardens and surrounding mountains.
If you wish to cook for yourself you have a choice of the fully equipped kitchen gas stove (hob), microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge or the Weber braai on the stoep. Coffee, tea, sugar, milk, basic spices, cutlery, crockery and pans are supplied.
TV and free wifi are all provided.
Sockets are provided with built-in USB chargers and in addition to the fireplace, each bedroom contains a wall panel heater and comes stocked with blankets.
There are two secure off street parking bays and we have provided a bike cleaning bay for after those dusty (muddy or snow!) off-road adventures.
The cottage is self-sufficient, powered by solar (and inverter) and supplied with water from a borehole. Water is sustainably sourced from our borehole and passes through filters and an ozone screen.
Unfortunately, the cottage is not suitable for pets.
ACCOMMODATION
River Cottage sleeps four in two luxuriously appointed bedrooms, each with a queen size bed cosily wrapped in luxury duvets topped with equally inviting feather pillows and luxury linen. Each bedroom is ensuite with either a bath or shower room and is provisioned with soft towels, toiletries and slippers. The lower bedroom looks out on our grand old oak tree which changes personality throughout the year and is particularly enchanting in Autumn.
